Noakhali correspondent: Noakhali's Hatia Island Upazila Nijhum Island collapsed on Monday to over 50 houses collapsing. Five fishing boats, including 20 fishermen, were found missing in the Meghna river. At least 20 thousands of dry fish have been damaged in different parts of the island in storm rain.

Nijhum Island Union Parishad chairman Mehraj Uddin said that more than three hundred kadarasarahas were destroyed in a sudden storm from 8am to 9am. In addition, at least 20 thousand pieces of dried fish have been damaged to allow drying in the open fields in different places. Five fishermen, including 20 fishermen, were missing after fishing in the river. Besides, a trawler was drowned in the Meghna river after consuming rice in the morning from Hatrahi Ghat to the chairman's house.

Hatia Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Noor Alam said that work on the rescue of missing fishermen in the storm was being done. Assessment of damage is being done. A senior official has been approached to provide government assistance to the victims.
